Neck pain affects a significant number of individuals. Recent studies have found more than 10% of Australians suffer from neck pain at any given time.
The reason is that the neck region contains many delicate, pain-sensitive structures commonly exposed to abuse and abnormal stresses. Incomplete rehabilitation of past injuries, poor posture, prolonged sitting, and lack of periodic spinal alignments are some of the more common factors in the development of neck pain problems.
Fortunately, most individuals suffering from neck pain will find chiropractic care extremely beneficial. In the meantime... during our holiday break we suggest on a daily basis you:
1. Perform gentle neck stretches.
2. If acute pain place cold compress for 24 hrs then heat. If chronic apply heat only.
3. If headache from neck pain apply cold compress to back of neck and forehead.
4. Drink plenty of water (at least 10 glasses).
5. Continue to be active to prevent stiffness.
6. Take a level teaspoon magnesium each morning and evening
(available in clinic to purchase before holiday period).
